📄 Job Description

As the EU Policy Manager, you will play a crucial role in strengthening the Ethereum ecosystem’s engagement with European policy landscapes. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Convening and maintaining a trusted network of European stakeholders (researchers, client teams, standards participants, civil society, academic labs, technical communities) to share policy context, risks, and research.
  • Producing neutral, high-quality explainer materials (briefs, primers, FAQs, annotated bill trackers) that clarify implications for open infrastructure and builders.
  • Identifying research gaps; commissioning or coordinating neutral research to inform public dialogues.
  • Convening coalitions of aligned stakeholders for purposes of supporting particular campaigns.
  • Mapping priority EU files and timelines and developing ecosystem-level readiness plans and frameworks to anticipate and respond to new developments.
  • Creating playbooks and templates that independent groups can adapt for their own advocacy.
  • Briefing EF leadership and technical teams on relevant developments, scenarios, and potential ecosystem impacts.
  • Translating technical realities (consensus, client diversity, L2s/rollups, security, privacy) into accessible narratives for non-technical audiences.
  • Partnering with communications to publish educational resources (blogs, explainers, visualizations) that elevate public understanding.
  • Tracking relevant standards activity and coordinating community participation where appropriate, focusing on education and information exchange.
  • Supporting open workshops and roundtables that surface diverse perspectives and reduce information asymmetry.
  • Establishing lightweight processes for sourcing input from the ecosystem and maintaining a public repository of resources.

📌 Requirements

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong commitment to the principles of open infrastructure. Key qualifications include:
  • 5+ years of experience in legislative staff, public policy, or regulatory affairs (tech, financial regulation, digital infrastructure, or adjacent fields).
  • A strong grasp of EU institutions/processes and how national implementation works, with the ability to track multi-file timelines.
  • Exceptional ability to create clear, neutral, and technically informed materials for varied audiences.
  • Comfort engaging with developers and researchers on complex blockchain concepts (client diversity, consensus, rollups/L2s, cryptography/privacy, MEV) and translating them into accessible materials.
  • A skilled convener who can build trust across diverse stakeholders, demonstrating excellent meeting design and follow-through.
  • Excellent English communication skills; proficiency in other EU-relevant languages is a strong plus.
  • High integrity, a public-interest mindset, and deep respect for open-source communities.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Prior work in crypto/web3 or adjacent open-source ecosystems.
  • Experience coordinating multi-stakeholder projects or standards efforts.
  • Existing networks with government, EU think tanks, civil society, academic groups, or technical standards bodies.
  • Experience producing public educational content (reports, visuals, microsites, workshops).
  • A technical background.
